On October 2nd, on the occasion of Dussehra, 13 people were swept away in the Utangan River near Dungarwala village in the Khairagarh region during idol immersion. One young man, Vishnu, was immediately rescued, while the remaining 12 were presumed missing.

After rescue operations that lasted approximately 124 hours, all 12 bodies were recovered on Tuesday. The relief and rescue teams included the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Army, Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) flood unit, local divers, and police.

Officials stated that the bodies were trapped in deep pits in the middle of the river, which made recovery difficult. Search teams temporarily diverted the river's flow to facilitate diving operations.

The deceased were identified as Sachin (14), Karan (21), Bhagwati (23), Oke (19), Gajendra (20), Ompal (35), Gagan (25), Deepak (15), Abhishek (16), Dinesh (19), Manoj (15), and Haresh (22).

Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar and District Magistrate Arvind Mallappa Bangari confirmed the success of the rescue operation and extended their gratitude and condolences to the rescue teams and villagers.
