The Nobel Peace Prize 2025 will be announced on October 10. US President Trump made efforts for the award, but experts believe winning is difficult. This year's potential winners include international organizations and peace activists.

Nobel Peace Prize 2025: The Nobel Peace Prize 2025 will be announced on October 10 this year. US President Donald Trump has made several attempts to win this award, including the Gaza Peace Plan. However, experts believe that Trump has a low chance of receiving this award. His international policies and controversial actions are considered to be the reasons behind this. This raises the question: if Trump is not the winner, then who might receive this award?

Experts' Evaluation of Trump's Efforts

The Oslo-based Norwegian Nobel Committee will announce the award winner on Friday. Trump claimed to have resolved eight conflicts and therefore deserved the award. However, international affairs experts do not agree. Swedish Professor Peter Wallensteen stated that Trump would not be the winner this year. He suggested that the outcomes of Trump's initiatives would become clearer next year.

Nina Greger, head of the Peace Research Institute Oslo, did not consider Trump's actions to be in line with Nobel ideals. She stated that despite peace efforts in Gaza, Trump's policies have been against international cooperation and fraternity among nations. Furthermore, she pointed out that Trump repeatedly withdrew the US from multilateral treaties, initiated trade wars, threatened to acquire Greenland, deployed National Guard in cities, and undermined freedom of expression.

Nobel Committee's Perspective

Jørgen Watne Frydnes, chairperson of the Nobel Committee, stated that when selecting a winner, their entire personality and work are assessed. Primarily, it is observed what genuine contribution they have made to peace. In this process, not only their individual actions but also the institutional aspects they have supported are given importance.

List of Potential Winners

This year, a total of 338 nominations have been received for the Nobel Peace Prize. These include 244 individual names and 94 organizations. The highest number of nominations was 376 in 2016. It is difficult to name a clear winner in 2025, but several names are being discussed.

The Sudan Emergency Response Room is an important institution that provided life-saving aid to civilians after the 2023 civil war. It includes young volunteers, doctors, and engineers. Yulia Navalnaya, widow of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny, is also a potential candidate. She has campaigned against corruption and abuse of power in Russia.

Organizations such as UN Secretary-General António Guterres, UNHCR, UNRWA, and the International Tribunal are also on the potential list for the award. Journalists and organizations working for press freedom are also being discussed this year.

Nobel Prize Selection Process

The Nobel Prize process begins a year in advance. For the year 2025, the selection process started in September 2024. In this process, members of parliament, governments, university rectors, professors, peace institutes, leaders of foreign policy institutions, and former laureates submit nominations.

The nomination process concludes by the end of January. Subsequently, nominations are sent to the Oslo-based Norwegian Nobel Committee. Between February and March, nominations are screened and reviewed by advisors. From March to August, the committee conducts an in-depth study of the candidates' work and contributions. In October, the winner is selected by majority vote, and this decision is considered final.

Award Ceremony

The Nobel Peace Prize laureate will be honored on December 10 at the award ceremony in Oslo. They will be presented with a medal, a diploma, and an official document.

Online Nomination and Deadline

Nominations are made online, and the form is available from September to February. All nominations must be submitted by midnight on January 31. Nominations received after the deadline are considered for the following year's award. The committee may also accept late nominations if special permission is granted.

Thus, the entire landscape of the Nobel Peace Prize 2025 process and potential winners becomes clear. Despite Trump's efforts, expert opinions are not in his favor, and this year's award is likely to focus mostly on institutional or international peace efforts.
