Election Commission Rebukes Rahul Gandhi for Baseless Allegations of Vote Theft

The Election Commission has reacted bly to the serious allegations made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the Lok Sabha elections 2024. Rahul Gandhi had claimed that vote theft occurred in a Lok Sabha seat in Karnataka and that he has 100% concrete proof of it. The Election Commission expressed its displeasure over this statement, calling it completely baseless. The Commission clarified that so far neither the Congress nor any of its candidates has filed any election petition in court regarding the election result of this seat, nor has it followed the legal process.

The Commission stated that if there was any complaint, the concerned candidate should have filed a petition in the High Court under Section 80 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. Instead, Rahul Gandhi has directly accused the Election Commission, putting the constitutional body in the dock.

Rahul Gandhi Accused of Threatening Constitutional Body

The Election Commission also questioned Rahul Gandhi's language. The Commission said that the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha has not only made baseless allegations but has also openly tried to threaten a constitutional body. The Commission described this behavior as extremely unfortunate, saying that there should be no place for such language and attitude in a democracy.

Rahul Gandhi said in his statement that the Commission is allowing fraud and that the Congress has concrete evidence of it. He warned the Election Commission, saying, "You will not escape this because we are not going to leave you." Reacting to this, the Commission said that threatening any constitutional body is against democratic values and will be answered with facts.

What Rahul Gandhi Said

Rahul Gandhi fiercely attacked the Election Commission while interacting with journalists in the Parliament House complex. He said that the Commission is no longer working independently and impartially. He claimed that irregularities on such a large scale have been found in the investigation of just one Lok Sabha constituency, which clearly shows that the same game has been played on other seats as well. Also, he supported the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of the voter list in Bihar and Tejashwi Yadav's indications of boycotting the election.

Rahul said that the Election Commission is mistaken if it thinks it will escape this. He also alleged that the Commission has completely failed to fulfill its constitutional duties.
