HDFC Bank has informed its customers that UPI services will be temporarily unavailable due to system maintenance from 12:00 AM midnight to 1:30 AM on September 12, 2025. Transactions through platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe, and RuPay cards will be affected during this period. The bank has advised customers to use PayZapp and Net Banking.

For a total duration of 90 minutes, from 12:00 AM midnight to 1:30 AM, UPI transactions linked to HDFC, RuPay card payments, and transactions on third-party apps such as Google Pay and PhonePe will be impacted. During this time, the bank recommends using the PayZapp wallet and Net Banking for transactions.
System Maintenance Schedule and Duration
The bank has clarified that the system maintenance process will commence at 12:00 AM midnight on September 12 and conclude at 1:30 AM. In total, this process will last for 90 minutes. Digital transactions associated with HDFC Bank may be affected during this period.
Services Affected
HDFC Bank has stated that UPI transactions will be particularly affected due to this maintenance. Additionally, payments made with RuPay credit cards and transactions initiated from HDFC accounts via third-party apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, etc., may also encounter issues.
This period could also present challenges for merchants. If a merchant accepts UPI payments through an HDFC account, they may face difficulties in receiving payments during this time.
Transactions can be made via PayZapp App
During this inconvenience, HDFC Bank has suggested that customers utilize the PayZapp app. PayZapp is HDFC's proprietary digital wallet and virtual card app. Through this app, customers can continue to conduct transactions even when UPI services are unavailable.
Using PayZapp, customers can perform activities such as bill payments, online shopping, and money transfers. This app is available to all HDFC customers and can also be used by customers of other banks.
Security of Transactions in PayZapp
All transactions conducted through PayZapp are secured with passwords, biometrics, and PINs. The bank claims that this security system is robust and safeguards against any unauthorized transactions.
Upon completion of KYC, the monthly transaction limit for PayZapp is up to ₹2 lakh. However, without KYC, this limit is restricted to ₹10,000 per month.
Net Banking is also available
A point of relief for HDFC Bank customers is that Net Banking services are available 24x7. Through Net Banking, customers can conduct over 200 types of transactions. A Net Banking account is automatically activated for every HDFC customer. Customers simply need to log in to conduct transactions from the comfort of their homes.
Net Banking services allow for easy bill payments, fund transfers, and other financial transactions without the need to visit a bank branch.
