On the occasion of National Sports Day 2025 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya inaugurated India's first Mondo track. On this occasion, the Sports Minister said that this is a historic moment for the country and India is now rapidly moving towards becoming a powerhouse in sports.

Mansukh Mandaviya Said
Mansukh Mandaviya said at the inauguration ceremony that the Mondo track is a major achievement for the country's athletes. He said:
'Our goal is to make India a sports superpower by 2047. This track will be part of India's preparations for the Commonwealth Games 2030 and the Olympics 2036. We are proud that India is now among the 25 countries that have this world-class track.'
Mansukh Mandaviya informed that the construction of this track was completed in just four months at the initiative of the SAI Engineering Wing. This is a concrete step towards making India a sports nation in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.
Features of Mondo Track
The Mondo track provides high-level preparation facilities for athletes. It is suitable for world-class tournaments and will also be used in the Los Angeles Olympics 2028. Before the installation of this track, Indian athletes had to go abroad for world-class preparation. Now they have the opportunity for training in India itself.

India's Javelin star Neeraj Chopra said on the occasion of the inauguration: It is a matter of pride for us to have this track built at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Now we can prepare for world-class events directly in our country. Sumit Antil, who has won two gold medals in the Paralympics, said that this track will give him a better experience for international competitions.
Meanwhile, athlete Priti Pal said: The biggest joy is that we will now get the experience of running on this track. India has made tremendous progress in the field of sports in the last few years. India has also bid for the hosting of the 2036 Olympics. Apart from this, young talents are being identified and given opportunities through Khelo India and other programs.
The inauguration of the Mondo track is not only an achievement for the athletes but also strengthens India's global presence in sports. This track will also prepare athletes for the World Para Athletics Championships to be held in 2025.
