The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and hailstorms across at least 16 states over the next 24 to 48 hours. Weather conditions are expected to remain unstable in several regions due to the influence of a western disturbance and low-pressure systems developing across different parts of the country.
According to the weather department, b winds with speeds of 60–80 kmph may affect several northern states on June 11, 2026. Heavy rainfall is also expected to continue across northeastern and southern India over the next five to seven days.
The weather department has warned of severe weather conditions across several parts of North India. In Delhi, thunderstorms, rainfall and b winds are likely between June 11 and June 13. Wind speeds may reach 60–65 kmph, which could provide relief from heat but may affect trees and power infrastructure.
In Uttar Pradesh, districts including Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Prayagraj are under alert for b winds and heavy rainfall. Lightning is also expected in some areas. Eastern and western Rajasthan may experience dust storms and wind speeds of up to 70–80 kmph. Punjab and Haryana are also forecast to receive intermittent rainfall accompanied by winds of 40–60 kmph.
The weather department has issued an alert for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Landslides and road disruptions are also possible in hilly areas. Several parts of Himachal Pradesh may witness winds of 60–80 kmph, while Uttarakhand could experience winds of 50–60 kmph. Jammu and Kashmir is also forecast to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and b winds in several districts.
Widespread rainfall is likely across Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal over the next three to five days. Wind speeds may reach up to 70 kmph in several districts of Bihar, where the risk of lightning has increased. Jharkhand and West Bengal are also under warning for heavy rainfall and b winds. Continuous rainfall in Odisha and other parts of eastern India may lead to waterlogging and disruptions to traffic.
Monsoon activity is strengthening across southern India. Heavy rainfall may continue over the coming days in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Fishermen in Kerala’s coastal areas have been advised to avoid venturing into the sea. Several districts of Tamil Nadu may experience winds of 50–60 kmph.
In Madhya Pradesh, alerts for b winds and rainfall have been issued for Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain and nearby districts. Wind speeds of 60–70 kmph are possible at several locations. Rainfall activity is also expected to persist across Maharashtra and the Konkan region over the next few days. Waterlogging may develop in Mumbai and surrounding areas.
The weather department stated that thunder squall systems are expected to remain active across several states on June 11 and June 12. Wind speeds may reach up to 80 kmph at some locations. The likelihood of hailstorms is higher in the plains and hilly regions of North India.
