Weather Alert: Heavy Rainfall Expected in Multiple Indian States on August 2nd

The weather pattern in the country is set to change again from August 2nd. According to the forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi-NCR is likely to experience intermittent rainfall for the next three days, which may provide some relief from humidity and heat.

Weather: The monsoon has once again gained momentum in many states of India. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to moderate rainfall in several states including Delhi, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on August 2, 2025. The weather will bring relief in some places, while increasing difficulties for people in others, especially in areas already facing waterlogging or flood-like conditions.

Continuous Rain in Delhi Likely to Disrupt Traffic, Relief for Now in Uttar Pradesh

The capital Delhi is expected to experience light to moderate rainfall on August 2nd. The Meteorological Department says that this sequence may continue for three days. Waterlogging and traffic jams are likely in Laxmi Nagar, Pitampura, Rohini, South, and North Delhi, especially causing problems for those returning from office in the evening.

Most parts of Uttar Pradesh have been placed in the green zone on August 2nd, meaning there is a low probability of rain. However, an alert for moderate to heavy rainfall has been issued for districts like Shahjahanpur, Kheri, Sitapur, Gonda, Sant Kabir Nagar, Azamgarh, and Bahraich on August 3rd. The state administration has directed the concerned departments to remain vigilant.

Red Alert for Heavy Rain in Bihar, Warning of Heavy Rain Again in Rajasthan After Record Rainfall

The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy rain and b winds in Bihar on August 2nd. There is a possibility of heavy rain in districts like Patna, Gaya, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Katihar, Nawada, Lakhisarai, and Jamui, which may lead to flood or waterlogging situations in low-lying areas. The state government has kept disaster management teams in active mode.

Rajasthan recorded 77% more rainfall than normal in July 2025. Now, on August 2nd, a warning of moderate to heavy rainfall has been issued for the districts of Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Jhunjhunu, Sikar, and Bikaner. Farmers and travelers have been advised to exercise special caution.

Alert for Torrential Rain in Madhya Pradesh

Most districts of Madhya Pradesh are likely to experience heavy rainfall on August 2nd. Incidents of heavy rain and lightning may occur in districts like Gwalior, Bhind, Shivpuri, Vidisha, Sagar, Raisen, Chhatarpur, and Tikamgarh. The Meteorological Department has advised travelers and residents of rural areas to stay indoors. Heavy rain is also expected in four districts of Himachal Pradesh — Sirmaur, Shimla, Kullu, and Solan.

Along with this, there is a rain alert in Chamoli, Bageshwar, Nainital, Almora, and Rudraprayag in Uttarakhand. The administration has appealed to tourists to take precautions and avoid unnecessary travel in hilly areas. There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall in Gujarat and Maharashtra for the next seven days. Ahmedabad and surrounding areas have been experiencing continuous rain for the past three days, causing water to enter many homes and shops. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has advised Mumbaikars to remain vigilant.
