Dilip Mahadu Gavit won the men's Para 100m T47 final in 10.71 seconds to claim the gold medal. In addition to winning the event, he set a new Games record and recorded his season's best performance. India's Mohammad Basil finished second in 10.83 seconds to win the silver medal, while England's Kevin Santos took bronze in 10.85 seconds. The T47 category is for para athletes with physical impairment in one or both arms who compete in track events.
Dilip Mahadu Gavit was born into a farming family in Toran Dongri village near Nashik, Maharashtra. As a child, he helped his parents with farm work. At the age of five or six, he suffered a serious injury to his right arm after falling from a tree. As treatment was delayed, the infection worsened and doctors amputated his arm below the elbow.
Despite the accident, he continued training by running on village roads before entering professional para athletics under the guidance of coach Vaijanath Kale. His years of training culminated in a Commonwealth Games gold medal.
Kerala's Mohammad Basil won the silver medal in the men's Para 100m T47 event. He competed in able-bodied athletics for nearly eight years and, according to the source, was unaware of para athletics until 2025. On expert advice, he switched to para sports and trained at the Sports Authority of India (SAI).
Following his performance at the Indian Open International Para Athletics Championship in May 2026, he was selected for the Commonwealth Games. He won the silver medal for India in his first major multi-sport event.
Murali Sreeshankar won the silver medal in the men's long jump with a leap of 8.09 metres. He became the first Indian long jumper to win silver medals at two consecutive Commonwealth Games. Jamaica's Tajay Gayle won gold with 8.15 metres, while Scotland's Stephen Mackenzie secured bronze with 8.08 metres. Sreeshankar finished six centimetres behind the gold medal-winning mark.

Indian shot put athletes Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Samardeep Singh Gill qualified for the final. Toor secured direct qualification with a throw of 20.14 metres on his second attempt, while Samardeep Gill qualified with a best throw of 19.95 metres.
Nineteen-year-old Sanjana missed out on a medal in the women's 77kg weightlifting event. She failed all three attempts at lifting 94kg in the snatch. Sanjana had won a bronze medal at this year's Asian Championships but was unable to complete her challenge at the Commonwealth Games.
After the sixth day's competition, India had won a total of 15 medals, comprising three gold, nine silver and three bronze medals, and occupied eighth place in the medal standings. Australia remained on top with 103 medals, including 47 gold. India will next compete in athletics, boxing and shot put events with the opportunity to add to its medal tally.
