Indian Cricket Stars Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah Pass Yo-Yo Fitness Tests

Several Indian team players, including Test captain Shubman Gill and ODI captain Rohit Sharma, have passed the pre-season Yo-Yo test conducted at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.

Sports News: Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, Test captain Shubman Gill, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, and Jitesh Sharma have recently successfully cleared the fitness tests held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence. In this testing, players met fitness standards such as the Yo-Yo test and DXA scan.

Shubman Gill Also Clears Fitness Test

25-year-old Punjab batsman Shubman Gill has been appointed as India's vice-captain for the Asia Cup 2025 T20 tournament. Prior to this, he had to withdraw from the Duleep Trophy due to fever, where he was captaining the North Zone. After resting in his hometown for a few days, Gill visited the Centre of Excellence, passed the Yo-Yo test, and sent a message of meeting fitness standards.

Along with Gill, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah and batsman Jitesh Sharma also successfully completed all fitness tests. The tests also included a DXA scan to check players' bone density, which is considered an important method in modern sports science.

Fitness of Other Players

Among other players at the Centre of Excellence, Mohammed Siraj, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Washington Sundar, and Shardul Thakur also passed the tests without any issues. Jaiswal and Washington are included in the standby list for the continental competition. Shardul Thakur will captain West Zone in the Duleep Trophy semi-final against Central Zone starting September 4.

Despite retiring from Test and T20 formats, senior batsman Rohit Sharma has still passed the fitness tests. He currently has no immediate assignments but might feature in the team for the ODI series against Australia in November. Additionally, Rohit also has the possibility of playing three ODIs for India A against Australia A in Kanpur on September 30, October 3, and 5. Currently, Rohit may stay at the Centre of Excellence for a few more days of training.
