A casteist remark by a woman police officer sparked outrage among students and community representatives. The dispute escalated to such an extent that both the coaching center and the woman constable had to apologize. This incident has ignited a new debate in the city concerning security and social sensitivity.
Controversy Initiated by Awareness Program
An awareness campaign was organized on Thursday at a reputed coaching center in Jaipur. The program aimed to inform students about law, traffic rules, and women's safety. A quiz session was also arranged for students, where the woman police officer answered their questions.
The program, which was proceeding in a normal atmosphere, became tense when the woman constable made a casteist remark in a humorous tone during the quiz. This remark was not well-received by the students at all and immediately escalated into a controversy. Given the seriousness of the incident, the coaching center management had to issue a written apology.
Meena Community Youth Protested
The woman constable's remark was considered particularly offensive to the youth of the Meena community. Some students immediately protested and demanded an apology on stage. Students and community representatives stated that the remark conveyed a wrong message and that it was inappropriate to take sensitive social issues lightly.
The protest by local youth escalated to such an extent that a tense atmosphere developed at the coaching center. From a security perspective, police forces from Mahesh Nagar, Sodala, Mansarovar, and Shiprapath police stations had to be deployed. The situation calmed down only after the coaching institute issued a public apology.
Woman Constable Also Apologized
Following the escalation of the controversy, the woman constable was called to the coaching center. Mahesh Nagar SHO Gunjan Soni Verma and Mansarovar SHO Lakhan Singh accompanied her. Standing on stage, the woman constable clarified that her statement was an oversight and expressed her regret for it.
She expressed her apologies to the students and the community and promised not to repeat such a mistake in the future. This apology helped calm the anger of some students and community representatives, and gradually the situation came under control.
