Jaishankar Rejects Trump's Claim on Operation Sindoor: No Modi-Trump Call Occurred

In the Rajya Sabha, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that there was no conversation between PM Modi and Trump during Operation Sindoor. The formal request for a ceasefire from Pakistan came through the DGMO.

S Jaishankar: The atmosphere in the Rajya Sabha heated up on Wednesday when External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar responded to questions raised about Operation Sindoor with a firm answer to the opposition. He clarified that no phone call took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then-US President Donald Trump between April 22nd and June 16th, 2024. He stated this in a very stern tone, saying, "I want to tell them, they should listen carefully..."

Indian Government's Stance on Trump's Claims

Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed that he played a role in stopping the conflict between India and Pakistan. However, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, on behalf of the Indian government, completely rejected this claim. He said that India's stance has always been clear: any talks between India and Pakistan will only be bilateral, and there will be no role for any third party.

Mention of Conversation with US Vice President on May 9th

Jaishankar informed that on May 9th, US Vice President Pence tried to contact Prime Minister Modi. During the phone call, a warning about a potential attack by Pakistan was given. Prime Minister Modi responded directly and clearly that if Pakistan attacked, India would give a befitting reply.

Details of Operation Sindoor's Success

The External Affairs Minister stated that India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7th, under which precise and effective action was taken against terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoJK). Under this, Pakistan's air defense systems were neutralized, and several key airports were damaged.

No Leader from the World Stopped India

Jaishankar reiterated that no leader from the world asked India to stop its military operation. Any country that contacted India was clearly told that if Pakistan wanted a ceasefire, it would have to formally request it through the DGMO (Director General of Military Operations).

No Connection Between Trade and Diplomacy

The opposition alleged that the Prime Minister was taking a soft stance due to trade interests with the US. On this, the External Affairs Minister said that no trade talks of any kind took place between Prime Minister Modi and Trump at that time. India's military action was completely independent and was taken keeping India's national security in mind.

Strong Message to the Opposition in Rajya Sabha

S. Jaishankar's tone in Parliament was very clear and firm. He told the opposition MPs not to distort the facts. He said, "I am reiterating again that no phone call took place between Prime Minister Modi and Trump during Operation Sindoor. So, those who are spreading confusion, listen carefully - this statement is completely based on facts."
