Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh – The district has seen a rapid increase in cases of fever, cold, and cough, placing immense pressure on local health facilities. Patients were seen queuing up at Sultanpur Medical College hospital since morning, presenting with complaints such as viral symptoms, abdominal pain, and breathing difficulties.
On a single day, by noon, over 25 patients reported abdominal pain, and more than 30 patients had fever and cough.
Most cases are being linked to viral infections, associated with recent weather changes and air pollution.
Meanwhile, the situation regarding mosquito-borne diseases is currently less severe — recently, 162 dengue cases, 7 malaria cases, 3 chikungunya cases, and 1 case each of AES and JE have been registered in the district.
Avoid staying too long in cold, dusty, or poorly ventilated places. Drink lukewarm water; refrain from eating unhygienic outside food.
If fever persists for more than five days, contact a doctor immediately. Individuals with pre-existing respiratory issues should be especially cautious, as weather changes, humidity, and air pollution can further complicate their condition.
