Janhvi Kapoor Reportedly Considering Remake of Mother Sridevi's Iconic 'Chaalbaaz'

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor is currently making headlines continuously. Her film ‘Param Sundari’ was recently released in theaters, and now she will soon be seen in ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’.

Entertainment: Bollywood star kid Janhvi Kapoor has no shortage of projects. On August 29, her film Param Sundari was released in theaters, which is currently doing decent business. After this, her next film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is set to release in theaters. In between these two big films, Janhvi has now landed a project that would be a dream for any star kid to do. According to reports, Janhvi may soon be seen in a remake of her mother Sridevi's popular film from 36 years ago.

Janhvi Kapoor to Play a Double Role

Janhvi has played various characters on screen so far – from glamorous looks to simple roles. But this time, her challenge will be doubled as she might have to play a double role in the film ‘Chaalbaaz’, just like her mother. In this film, released in 1989, Sridevi had won the hearts of the audience by playing the characters of ‘Anju’ and ‘Manju’. If the remake is confirmed, it will not just be a film for Janhvi but an opportunity to pay tribute to her mother.

According to reports, when Janhvi received this offer, she accepted it with open arms without any delay. For her, this project is not just a film but an emotion connected to her mother. However, she is also quite cautious about playing this role because she knows that this character will be directly compared to Sridevi.

It is being reported that Janhvi is currently seeking opinions from her team and close associates and will decide by the end of September whether she will sign the film.

Sridevi's Iconic Film ‘Chaalbaaz’

  • ‘Chaalbaaz’ was released on December 8, 1989, and is counted among Sridevi's most memorable films.
  • The film was directed by Pankaj Parashar.
  • Along with Sridevi, Rajinikanth and Sunny Deol were in the lead roles in the film.
  • Anupam Kher, Shakti Kapoor, Annu Kapoor, Saeed Jaffrey, Aruna Irani, and Rohini Hattangadi also played important roles.
  • The songs from the film like “Na Jaane Kahan Se Aaya Hai” and “Kisi Ke Haath Na Aayegi Yeh Ladki” are still remembered by the audience today.
  • The film earned approximately Rs 15 crore at the box office, which was a significant earning for that era.

This double-role film of Sridevi proved to be a turning point in her career and earned her the title of Bollywood's ‘Double Role Queen’. Janhvi Kapoor's biggest challenge will be how she matches her mother's brilliant performance. However, she understands this well, and that's why she is being cautious about the project.
