Janata Dal United (JDU) leader KC Tyagi has bly reacted to allegations made by senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, against External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and India's foreign policy. Tyagi warned Rahul Gandhi against making such objectionable and unnecessary statements during a crisis and expressed his full support for External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
Rahul Gandhi's Accusations Further Exacerbate Political Tensions
Recently, in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi sharply criticized the central government's foreign policy, particularly that of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Gandhi questioned whether India's foreign policy had been "destroyed" and claimed that no country stood with India in condemning Pakistan. He alleged that India lost several Air Force planes during Operation Sindhu, which he considered a major blunder or crime.
Rahul Gandhi also criticized Jaishankar's silence on the matter on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and demanded that the Indian government bring the truth of the entire matter before the public.
What was Operation Sindhu?
Operation Sindhu was a military operation conducted by India in May 2023. It was a response to a terrorist attack in the Pulwama area of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, which killed 26 civilians. In this operation, the Indian armed forces attacked terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, eliminating over 100 terrorists from groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. While considered a military success by India, Rahul Gandhi questioned the number of Indian aircraft lost during the operation.
JDU Leader KC Tyagi's Sharp Rebuke of Rahul Gandhi
In response, JDU leader KC Tyagi stated that at a time when the nation needs to unite to face external challenges, opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi should not make such objectionable statements. He said, "No one should make such unnecessary and controversial statements during a crisis. This is not in the national interest."
Tyagi clarified that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar should be fully supported as he is working in the national interest. He also mentioned the recent NITI Aayog meeting under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which discussed the vision of a developed India by 2047. Tyagi stated that Bihar Chief Minister and JDU chief Nitish Kumar also participated in this meeting and that India's future is bright.
What did Rahul Gandhi say?
Rahul Gandhi stated in the Lok Sabha that no country in the world is supporting India in condemning Pakistan. He also mentioned the attempts of former US President Donald Trump to mediate between India and Pakistan. Furthermore, he questioned the number of Indian aircraft lost during Operation Sindhu and whether it was not a mistake, but a serious crime.
He asserted that the Indian government should bring the complete truth of this matter before the public and that External Affairs Minister Jaishankar's silence is condemnable.
