A harrowing incident unfolded in Bhakso village of Lohardaga district, Jharkhand, on Thursday night. Unidentified assailants brutally murdered a 60-year-old elderly woman and her 16-year-old grandson, Ritesh Oraon, by slitting their throats. Both were sleeping in the same room at the time of the incident, while other family members were in different rooms. By the time the family realized what had happened, the perpetrators had fled the scene.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and sent the bodies for postmortem. The entire village is gripped by fear and outrage over the double murder. The police have registered an FIR against the unknown assailants and a forensic team has also arrived at the scene to investigate.
Attackers Accessed the Roof via a Ladder
Preliminary investigations revealed that the criminals entered the house from the roof using a ladder and went directly to the room where the grandmother and grandson were sleeping. They slit their throats and carried out the act without raising any alarm. The crime was executed so silently that even the other family members were unaware. In the morning, when the door of the room did not open, the family members became suspicious, and upon entering, they found both bodies lying soaked in blood.
The police have recovered some crucial clues from the scene and claim that the perpetrators will soon be brought to justice.
Police Investigating from Every Angle
In this case, the family members of the deceased, particularly Vinod, have expressed suspicion towards a close relative who had recently threatened serious consequences during a family dispute. The family believes that this murder may be the result of a family feud. The police are also proceeding with the investigation keeping this point in mind.
Lohardaga SP Sadiq Anwar, while speaking to the media, said that this is a very serious case and is being investigated from every angle. He assured that the murderers will be caught soon and will be severely punished. Meanwhile, the villagers have also demanded the immediate arrest of the accused.
