JoSAA Releases Round-1 Seat Allotment List
Millions of students eagerly awaiting admission to prestigious engineering institutions have received a significant update. JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) officially released the first round seat allotment list for the 2025 counseling process on June 14th. This list informs students of their allocated institute.
Students can check their seat allotment status by visiting the josaa.nic.in website. Candidates who qualified JEE Main or JEE Advanced 2025 are included in this process.
Number of Seats
JoSAA counseling 2025 will facilitate admissions to a total of 62,853 seats across prestigious institutions nationwide, including IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Of these, 18,160 seats are specifically for IITs, with the remaining distributed among NITs and other technical institutions.
This process represents the largest centralized admission procedure for engineering, conducted annually following the JEE examinations.
JoSAA Counseling 2025: Round 1 Schedule
JoSAA has not only released the seat allotment list but also provided a comprehensive schedule. Students should adhere to the following timeline:
Seat Allotment (Round-1): June 14, 2025, 10:00 AM
Online Reporting (Fee Payment and Document Upload): June 14 to June 18, 2025, 5:00 PM
Resolution of Fee Payment Issues: June 19, 5:00 PM
Addressing Student Queries: June 20, 5:00 PM
Completing all necessary actions within this timeframe is mandatory; failure to do so may result in seat cancellation.
Required Documents
During online reporting, students must upload the following documents:
- Class 10th Mark Sheet (for date of birth verification)
- Class 12th Mark Sheet
- Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS category students)
- PwD Certificate (if applicable)
- Medical Certificate (in Annexure 7 format)
- Photograph of Bank Passbook or Cancelled Check
- OCI/PIO Card or Passport (if applicable)
These documents will be verified online; therefore, ensuring correct format and validity is crucial.
Significant Change in Admission Process
JoSAA has implemented a key change in this year's counseling process. Between Rounds 2 and 5, students must make a decision regarding their allotted seat—either confirm or forfeit it.
Failure to make a timely decision will result in disqualification from JEE Advanced. This aims to prevent eligible candidates from missing out on seats and optimize seat utilization.
