Chief Justice MP: The Madhya Pradesh High Court has its 29th Chief Justice. Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva officially took charge on Thursday, being sworn in as Chief Justice. Governor Mangubhai Patel administered the oath at a dignified ceremony held at Raj Bhavan, Bhopal.
Special Presence at the Ceremony
Several senior officials from the Madhya Pradesh government and the judiciary were present at the swearing-in ceremony. Chief Secretary Anurag Jain conducted the proceedings and read out the notification issued by President Draupadi Murmu, appointing Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva as the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
Acting Chief Justice Since May
Justice Sachdeva had been serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court since May 2024. Considering his experience and leadership skills, he has now been fully entrusted with the responsibility of this position.
Education and Early Career
Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva was born on December 26, 1964, in Delhi. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Honors) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University in 1985. Subsequently, he obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Campus Law Center, Delhi University in 1988.
Beginning of Legal Practice
He was enrolled as an advocate with the Delhi Bar Council on August 1, 1988. Following this, he advocated in several important cases in the Delhi High Court and the Supreme Court. From the early years of his career, he demonstrated seriousness and professional integrity in the field of law.

Justice Sachdeva has resolved numerous sensitive and complex cases in his career. His approach in judicial services has always been fair, balanced, and within the scope of the law. He has paid special attention to judicial transparency and making access to justice easier for the common citizen.
