The Painful Incident at RG Kar Medical College
Last year in July, an incident of gang rape and murder of a female trainee doctor came to light at the prestigious RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, West Bengal. Widespread anger and outrage were seen across the country after this inhuman act. The medical fraternity took to the streets to protest and demanded justice for the victim.
Currently, the main accused in this case is in jail and legal proceedings are ongoing against him. During this expedition, scientists and researchers in the Himalayan region will also study:
- Glaciers and climate change
- Ecology of rivers and lakes
- Local agricultural systems and biodiversity
At the same time, this expedition will also serve as a medium for spreading the message of women's safety and social awareness to remote areas.
