Ladli Behna Yojana: A Major Step Towards Women's Economic Independence
The Ladli Behna Yojana was launched in May 2023. Under this, women aged 21 to 60 receive financial assistance every month. Initially ₹1000 was provided, then ₹1250, and now ₹1500 is being given. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will transfer ₹1500 directly into the accounts on Raksha Bandhan. The scheme strengthens the economic condition of women.
The primary objective of this scheme is not only to make women financially b but also to make them partners in family and social decisions.

Direct Dialogue with Sisters, Promises, and Future Plans
On August 3rd, in a public program, CM Mohan Yadav announced that the amount given under the Ladli Behna Yojana would be increased to ₹3000 per month by the year 2028. This increase will be done in a phased manner so that there is a continuous increase in the self-reliance and respect of women.
The Chief Minister had said, "I promise my sisters that we will improve their lives. This scheme is not just a means of giving money but a path to respect, self-confidence, and equality."
Transparency and Trust Through DBT
The biggest feature of the Ladli Behna Yojana is that the beneficiaries receive the amount directly into their bank accounts without intermediaries. This not only ensures transparency but also gives the woman the right to ownership of her income.
The process of eKYC and Aadhaar linking of beneficiaries has been completed by the state government, ensuring that the amount reaches the correct account on time.
Sisters' Reaction: 'For the First Time, We Felt That the Government is Also Ours'
Reeta Bai, a resident of Gwalior who has been a beneficiary of the scheme for the past year, says: 'Earlier, we had to depend on others for our expenses. Now, we get ₹1250 at the beginning of the month, which allows us to handle small household expenses ourselves. This time, with the Shagun of ₹250, I will buy sweets and Rakhi for the children.'
Opposition's Criticism and Government's Response
Although some political parties have called this scheme a means of political gain, the government says that this scheme is a long-term policy of women's empowerment more than any electoral benefit. The Chief Minister has clarified that this scheme will continue continuously for the next several years and necessary improvements will also be made in it over time.
