Union Minister Lalan Singh Accuses Opposition of Wanting Non-Citizens to Vote, Kiren Rijiju Criticizes Rahul Gandhi

Union Minister Lalan Singh stated that the opposition wants non-Indians to vote. He praised the revision campaign in Bihar and expressed concerns about fraud in democracy.

Delhi: Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh on Thursday taunted the opposition. He said that the opposition wants people who are not citizens to vote in the country. This statement of his came in an interview given to ANI. Lalan Singh said that the opposition's aim is to promote fraud in democracy. He also added that no one in Bihar has criticised this action and the general public is in support of it.

Taunt on Rahul Gandhi, allegations on Election Commission termed untrue

The Union Minister also reacted to the allegations made by Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi against the Election Commission. He said that Congress wants non-Indians to vote and take democracy in the direction of fraud. Praising the special intensive revision campaign conducted in Bihar, Lalan Singh said that the general public is satisfied with it.

Kiren Rijiju targets Rahul Gandhi

In the same context, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju also targeted Rahul Gandhi. He said that the Leader of the Opposition has neither studied the constitution nor respects it. Talking to the media, Rijiju said that Rahul Gandhi should come to his senses after the Supreme Court's remark.

Rijiju said that the clear meaning of the Supreme Court's "SIR" remark in Bihar is that the amendment of the voter list by the Election Commission is correct. The Supreme Court has held that Aadhaar card is not a definitive proof of citizenship. He urged other intelligent leaders of the Congress to provide correct guidance to Rahul Gandhi.

Controversy over removal of names of dead voters

Rahul Gandhi recently shared a video in which he showed the process of meeting people who have been declared "dead" by the Election Commission. Calling it a drama, Rijiju said that the job of the Election Commission is only to remove the names of dead people and add new voters. He informed that in every state there are Election Commission officers, who are under the state government and prepare the voter list.

The Supreme Court has clarified that the SIR process has been going on in independent India since the beginning and should be continued. This process ensures that the names of dead people are removed from the voter list. Rijiju questioned why this drama of Rahul Gandhi then? His point was that the purpose of SIR is only to update the list, not to do politics.

Intensive revision campaign in Bihar and reaction of the general public

Union Minister Lalan Singh said that the special intensive revision campaign in Bihar has been a positive step for the general public. In this campaign, the process of removing the names of dead voters and adding new voters has been completed in a transparent manner. The general public is satisfied with this initiative and is considering it a sign of strengthening democracy.

Lalan Singh said that the opposition's approach is contrary to the basic spirit of democracy. According to him, only citizens should have the right to vote in a democracy. Allowing non-Indians to vote will promote fraud in democracy.
