Lenskart to Launch AI Smartglasses in December, Featuring Camera, UPI Payments & Gemini AI to Rival Meta

Indian company Lenskart is soon going to launch its first AI smartglasses, which will be equipped with features such as a camera, voice assistant, and hands-free UPI payments. This smartglasses, set to arrive in December, will directly compete with Meta Ray-Ban smartglasses and will usher in new competition in the Indian wearable technology market.

AI SmartGlasses Lenskart: Indian optical company Lenskart is preparing to launch its new AI camera smartglasses in December. It will feature a Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, a Sony camera sensor, and a Google Gemini-based voice assistant. These smartglasses will not only assist in taking photos and videos but also facilitate UPI payments and live translation through voice commands. The company's objective is to build its own full-stack wearable ecosystem in India, which will offer b competition to Meta's Ray-Ban smartglasses.

New Smartglasses to be Equipped with AI and Camera Technology

Lenskart's smartglasses will be based on the Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset and will feature a Sony camera sensor, enabling users to capture photos and videos hands-free. Additionally, it will have a built-in AI assistant, powered by Google Gemini. This assistant will not only engage in conversations but also facilitate UPI payments, live translations, and many other tasks via voice commands.
The company stated that the smartglasses' AI and camera technology will also be accessible to developers and consumer apps. This will enable integration of apps such as food delivery, fitness, and entertainment into the device, transforming it into a multi-purpose wearable.

Special Focus on Comfort and Design

According to Lenskart, this device has been designed with comfort and everyday use in mind. It weighs only 40 grams, making it approximately 20% lighter than many smartglasses currently available in the market. The company's goal is to establish India's first full-stack wearable ecosystem, for which it has invested in several technology startups.
The company anticipates that its light weight and improved battery balancing will enable users to wear it comfortably on a daily basis.

Direct Competition with Meta

Lenskart's 'B' smartglasses will directly compete with Meta Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Gen 1, which are launching in India on November 21. Meta has integrated Meta AI into its smartglasses, enabling users to ask questions, take photos, and control features. The UPI Lite payment feature will also be added soon.
Lenskart claims that its product will be more localized to the needs and payment systems of Indian users, potentially giving it an advantage in the domestic market.
