A nursing officer from KGMU in Lucknow was defrauded of money under the guise of marriage. The accused posed as a judge and defrauded her of Rs 59.50 lakh. The police are searching for the accused Anshuman Vikram Singh and his accomplice Seemant Agarwal.
Lucknow: A serious case of fraud has come to light in the capital Lucknow involving a nursing officer, Sangeeta Singh, from King George's Medical University (KGMU). The accused, Anshuman Vikram Singh, ensnared the woman and her family by claiming to be a civil judge. He defrauded her of over Rs 59 lakh by promising marriage. Based on the victim's complaint, the police have registered an FIR against Anshuman and his associate Seemant Agarwal at the Colonel Ganj police station in Kanpur and have begun an investigation.
Nursing Officer Entrapped with Marriage Proposal
In February, the nursing officer's father posted a profile on a matrimonial website for his daughter. Around this time, Anshuman Vikram Singh contacted them and finalized the proposal by claiming to be a Civil Judge (JD) from Azamgarh. During their conversations, he gained the victim's father's trust and obtained the daughter's contact number.
Subsequently, the accused, identifying himself as ACJ (JD) Sitapur, maintained constant contact with the victim over the phone. He won the victim's trust by promising marriage. By presenting the relationship as solidified, the accused gradually began to trap the victim in his web.
Excuse of an Expensive Car and Fraud of 59 Lakhs
The accused told the victim that he would arrange a luxury car worth one crore rupees in her name and repay the money in a few days. Because of this, the victim withdrew Rs 14 lakh from her bank account. Additionally, the accused arranged a loan for the victim through his associate Seemant Agarwal, through which Rs 44.54 lakh was deposited into the victim's account from various banks.
In total, the victim gave Rs 59.50 lakh to the accused, including her own funds and the money obtained through loans. Upon receiving the money, the accused called the victim to Kanpur. After taking the money in a bag, he claimed he wanted to watch a movie. He then feigned illness and absconded.
Police Register FIR and Commence Investigation
After reporting the incident, the victim filed a complaint at the Colonel Ganj police station in Kanpur against Anshuman Vikram Singh and Seemant Agarwal. The police have registered an FIR against them under sections 319(2), 318(4), 338, 336(3), and 340(2) of the Indian Penal Code and have begun their investigation.
The police stated that efforts to apprehend the accused have been intensified. A thorough review of bank transactions and mobile call records is underway to identify any other individuals involved in the fraud.
