Lucknow witnessed public protests over power outages for the third consecutive day as residents expressed anger after electricity remained unavailable for more than nine hours in several areas amid intense heat. Late at night, people came out onto the streets and staged protests.

Local residents said continuous power cuts had made it difficult to stay indoors. They said children, elderly people and patients were facing the most difficulty due to the absence of electricity during severe heat and humidity.

According to reports, a large number of residents came out of neighbourhoods around midnight and blocked roads in protest. During the demonstrations, heated exchanges were reported between women and officials.

Employees and officials of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited faced protests from residents. Demonstrators alleged that the problem was not being resolved despite repeated complaints.

In several areas of Lucknow, residents were seen on roads carrying torches and using mobile phone lights. Due to the heat, many families were compelled to remain awake throughout the night.

The Uttar Pradesh Police was called to the scene to manage the situation. Police attempted to persuade residents and restored traffic movement.

Residents said continuous power cuts during severe heat were also affecting water supply, with people in several areas facing shortages of drinking water.

Public dissatisfaction over the electricity crisis was also visible on social media, where several users shared videos of darkened neighbourhoods and protests taking place on roads.

Experts said rising temperatures were rapidly increasing electricity demand, putting pressure on the distribution system and contributing to power cuts.

The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited said continuous work was being carried out to address fault and overload-related problems. Officials appealed to residents to remain patient.

Electricity supply has currently been restored in several areas, though residents' anger continues.
