Agra witnessed heavy traffic congestion, prompting a sharp response from the Police Commissioner, who expressed displeasure over the situation and the absence of an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) at the spot.
According to reports, prolonged traffic congestion and disorder caused inconvenience to commuters. The Police Commissioner reached the location and expressed dissatisfaction after assessing the situation.
Eyewitnesses said that over the wireless communication system, the Police Commissioner stated, “Where has the ACP disappeared? We are standing here, don’t you have this much common sense.” The exchange became a subject of discussion among people present nearby.
Following the incident, senior Uttar Pradesh Police officials moved quickly to manage traffic arrangements.
People stranded on roads during severe heat conditions in Agra reportedly faced inconvenience, with several vehicles remaining stuck in traffic for extended periods.
The Police Commissioner personally supervised traffic clearance on the road and instructed officers and traffic personnel to ensure that congestion was removed as quickly as possible.
Local residents said traffic arrangements at several locations in the city had been deteriorating, with conditions worsening further during peak hours.
A video and audio related to the incident have also been circulating widely on social media. People have expressed differing reactions to the Police Commissioner’s actions, with some describing it as an act of responsibility while others questioned traffic management.
Experts said increasing pressure from rising vehicle numbers in large cities has made traffic management more challenging, making coordination and swift action necessary.
The Uttar Pradesh Police said additional deployment of personnel and increased monitoring were being undertaken to improve traffic arrangements.
The traffic situation has since been normalised, but discussions regarding traffic management in the city have intensified following the incident.
