Maharajganj district has witnessed an alarming incident where an attempt was made to kidnap a sixth-grade student who was on her way to school. However, due to the student's alertness and the awareness of local residents, the attempt was foiled. The police promptly arrested the accused and have initiated further investigation into the matter.
Details of the Incident
The student was often attempted to be lured on her way with chocolates and money. On Wednesday morning, when the student left for school, a person named Guru Prasad, the accused, attempted to take her away by making her sit on his motorcycle.
Showing presence of mind, the student ran home and narrated the entire incident to her mother. The incident was also recorded on CCTV cameras, clearly showing the attempt to entice her and the accused's behavior.
Police Action
Upon receiving information about the incident, a case was registered against Guru Prasad, a resident of Hardi village, under Nichlaul Police Station. The accused was arrested and produced before the court, from where he was sent to judicial custody. Sadar Kotwal Nirbhay Kumar Singh stated that the accused's previous criminal record and his intentions are currently under investigation.
