In Mathura, 12 coaches of a goods train derailed on Tuesday night, bringing traffic to a standstill on the Delhi-Agra and Delhi-Mumbai railway routes. No casualties were reported in the accident, but dozens of trains were halted, causing distress to passengers for hours.

Mathura: In Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh, on October 21, 2025, at approximately 8:24 PM, 12 coaches of a goods train traveling from Delhi towards Mathura derailed. The accident occurred in the Jainth area, between Vrindavan Road and Ajhai stations. Following the incident, rail traffic on the Delhi-Agra and Delhi-Mumbai routes was completely disrupted.

Railway officials stated that the goods train was laden with coal, and its 12 coaches skewed across the tracks. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the accident. The incident affected both the Up and Down tracks, as well as the third line.

Passengers inconvenienced by train halts

Due to this accident, the movement of several major trains was disrupted. Trains such as Shatabdi Express, Punjab Mail, Nanda Devi Express, Mewar Express, Dehradun Express, and Sampark Kranti remained stranded at Mathura Junction, Agra Cantt, and other stations.

Hundreds of passengers remained stranded in trains, exacerbating their difficulties. The railway administration promptly dispatched an accident relief train from Agra Cantt station, and senior officials also arrived at the site late at night. Swift action was initiated to assist the passengers.

Status of Railway Relief Operations

Railway teams began diverting trains running on the Down track via the fourth line after 10:30 PM. However, the Up track remained obstructed late into the night. Railway officials stated that relief and rescue operations are continuously underway at the accident site.

As of now, no official details regarding the cause of the accident have been released. The railway administration appealed to passengers to remain patient and seek information through helpline numbers. Officials stated that all necessary steps are being taken for track repair and normal operations.
