Monsoon Update: Delhi-NCR Struggles with Humidity Amidst Rain, Rajasthan and Jharkhand to Witness Heavy Downpours

The monsoon is currently active in Delhi and NCR, with intermittent rainfall continuing. However, the sunshine between the showers is causing significant heat and humidity, causing discomfort to people.

Weather Update: The 2025 monsoon is in full swing across various parts of the country. While Delhi-NCR is experiencing intermittent rainfall, Rajasthan and Jharkhand are witnessing heavy downpours. Despite the rain in Delhi, the humid heat is troubling people. According to the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in several states in the coming days.

Humidity Woes Amidst Rain in Delhi-NCR

The Delhi and NCR region – including Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad – is experiencing continuous intermittent rainfall. While these rains have brought down the temperature to some extent, the b sun and fluctuating weather have intensified the humidity. The weather department has issued a forecast for light to moderate rain with thunderstorms in Delhi-NCR every day from July 12th to July 17th. However, the maximum temperature may slightly increase in the next two days, which could further escalate the heat and humidity.

Waterlogging and Traffic Disruption in Delhi Due to Rain

Due to the ongoing rain in Delhi and surrounding areas, waterlogging has occurred on many roads, underpasses, and residential areas. The waterlogging has affected the traffic flow, and motorists are stuck in traffic jams for extended periods in many places. Similar situations persist in Gurugram, Noida, and Ghaziabad. The halting of vehicles, water accumulation, and slow-moving traffic are impacting the daily lives of the general public.

Monsoon Favors Rajasthan

The monsoon is quite active in Rajasthan this year. Moderate to heavy rainfall has been recorded in many parts of eastern Rajasthan in the last 24 hours. The weather department has indicated that the monsoon will remain active in most parts of eastern Rajasthan for the next two weeks, with the possibility of above-average rainfall. The monsoon will also remain active in western Rajasthan for the next week, and above-normal rainfall can be expected. This is expected to bring great relief to farmers and rural areas.

Heavy Rainfall Warning in Jharkhand

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for Jharkhand between July 13th and 15th. Issuing a Yellow alert, the department has stated that waterlogging, lightning strikes, and flood-like situations may occur in low-lying areas in some districts. The districts for which the warning has been issued are:

  • July 13: Gumla, Khunti, Simdega, Saraikela-Kharsawan, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum
  • July 14: Giridih, Bokaro, Dhanbad, Deoghar, Dumka, Jamtara, Saraikela-Kharsawan, East and West Singhbhum
  • July 15: Chances of heavy rain in most southern and eastern districts

Meteorologists say that moist air coming from the Bay of Bengal is intensifying rainfall in eastern India, while cloud irregularities persist in northwest India, leading to humidity. The monsoon is gradually becoming active in North India, but it is expected to be in full effect from the first week of August.
