Narkatiaganj Subdivision in West Champaran has secured the top position in the district under the Farmer Registry campaign ahead of the release of the next instalment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. According to the latest Agriculture Department data, nearly 70 per cent of farmers in the subdivision have completed their registration, prompting the department to urge the remaining farmers to complete the process at the earliest.
According to figures released by the Agriculture Department up to June 4, 69.72 per cent of farmers in Narkatiaganj Subdivision have completed their Farmer Registry. With this achievement, the subdivision has moved to the top position in the district ranking.
Bagaha Subdivision ranked second in the district with 58.12 per cent registration, while Bettiah Subdivision secured third place with 48.35 per cent. Officials said the continuous special campaign has yielded positive results.
Among the blocks in the subdivision, Sikta recorded the highest registration rate at 74.94 per cent. It was followed by Gaunaha with 72.12 per cent, Lauriya with 72 per cent, Narkatiaganj Block with 70.04 per cent, and Mainatand with 60.60 per cent of farmers completing their registration.
The Agriculture Department said registration camps are being organised continuously at the block level, making the registration process more accessible for farmers.
Farmer Registry work has also progressed among beneficiaries of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. Around 32 per cent of beneficiaries in the subdivision have already been issued Farmer IDs.
Officials said completion of the Farmer Registry will help farmers access various Agriculture Department schemes more easily. They added that processes related to government assistance and subsidies are also expected to become more transparent.
Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Santosh Kumar appealed to farmers who have not yet completed their Farmer Registry to submit the required documents and register as soon as possible. He said farmers whose land is still recorded in the names of their ancestors should first complete the mutation process and then obtain a Farmer ID.
He said the Farmer Registry campaign is being conducted in camp mode across the region. Agriculture personnel are visiting villages to collect farmers’ information, with full cooperation from the Revenue Department. The department aims to connect as many farmers as possible to the Farmer Registry system in time so they can access future government schemes without difficulty.
