Naqvi called it a "malicious campaign," saying that "this defamation, targeting the President, the Prime Minister, and the Army Chief, is a conspiracy by political and external vested interests". He clearly stated that neither had Zardari been asked to resign nor had such ideas been discussed.

Mohsin Naqvi wrote that "We know who is spreading this rumor, why, and for whose benefit it is being done."
