There's big news amidst the ongoing preparations and schedule for the Hockey Asia Cup 2025. Pakistan and Oman have withdrawn from the tournament, which is scheduled to be held in India. Following the withdrawal of both teams, the organizers have included Kazakhstan and Bangladesh in the tournament.

Sports News: Relations between India and Pakistan have deteriorated due to military tensions, impacting sports as well. Recently, Pakistan refused to come to India citing security reasons, even though the Indian government was ready to grant visas to Pakistani hockey players. The Pakistan Hockey Federation was unwilling to agree at any cost, which prompted the organizers to contact the Bangladesh team beforehand. Meanwhile, Oman's team is also considered to have withdrawn from the tournament due to individual issues.

Reasons Behind the Absence of Pakistan and Oman

Recent military tensions between India and Pakistan have soured relations between the two countries. This situation has also affected sports. Pakistan's hockey team refused to play in India citing security reasons. The Indian government had made full preparations to grant visas to Pakistani hockey players, but the Pakistan Hockey Federation was not ready to come to India at any cost. For this reason, the organizers immediately contacted the Bangladesh team and included them in the tournament.

The Oman team also withdrew from the tournament due to individual and administrative issues. This decision was unexpected for the organizers, but new teams have since been selected.
