Panchayat Election Animosity: Firing Erupts in Meerut Village, 25 Arrested

In Kalandi village of Meerut, a fierce firing broke out between supporters of incumbent Pradhan Nitin and opposition candidate Dhirendra Fauji, stemming from animosity over the panchayat elections. Police arrested 25 and registered a case against 32 named accused.

Meerut: A case of violence related to the panchayat elections emerged on Wednesday night in Kalandi village, Sardhana block, Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh. In the village, supporters of incumbent Pradhan's husband Nitin and opposition candidate Dhirendra Fauji confronted each other. Attempts to calm the dispute failed, and rapid firing began from both sides, causing panic throughout the village.

Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries during the firing. The police took swift action, deploying heavy forces across the entire area and bringing the tension between both parties under control.

Firing After Dispute in Village

According to information, a minor dispute had also occurred between supporters of Pradhan's husband Nitin and Dhirendra Fauji on Tuesday, which was immediately resolved. However, on Wednesday night, both sides confronted each other again, leading to several dozen rounds of firing from both ends.

During the firing, villagers hid in their homes and shops out of fear. As soon as the incident was reported, police forces arrived at the scene and immediately launched a search operation.

25 Arrested, Case Registered Against 32 for Violence

SSP Vipin Tada stated that due to this violent incident, 25 accused have been arrested, and based on complaints from both sides, a case has been registered against a total of 32 named individuals.

The arrests include supporters of Pradhan's husband Nitin and Dhirendra Fauji. Police stated that the search for absconding accused has been intensified, and all will be arrested soon, facing strict action.

Assurance of Strict Action Against Culprits

The situation in the village is currently under control, but police have deployed heavy forces to prevent potential violent incidents. Continuous search operations and patrolling have helped reduce tension.

The SSP stated that any form of indiscipline and violence will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against the culprits to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
