Political activity has intensified in view of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025. On Thursday (October 23, 2025), RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav launched a fierce attack on the NDA during a joint press conference of the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance).
Patna: In a joint press conference of the Mahagathbandhan on Thursday (October 23, 2025), Tejashwi Yadav sharply attacked the NDA, stating that if given 20 months, he would accomplish tasks that hadn't been done in 20 years. He claimed that the BJP would not allow Nitish Kumar to become Chief Minister and that injustice was being done to Nitish within the NDA.
Tejashwi stated that all leaders and workers of the Mahagathbandhan were trusting him, and he would live up to that trust. He called for the removal of the 'double-engine government,' which he described as an engine of corruption and crime. He asserted that if given a chance, no one would need to leave Bihar, and his government would focus on education, medicine, irrigation, and action.
Tejashwi Yadav Seeks an Opportunity from the Public
At the press conference, Tejashwi Yadav said, "Give us 20 months; what hasn't been done in 20 years, we will accomplish in 20 months. Whether they are leaders or workers of the Mahagathbandhan, everyone has placed their trust in me. Together, we will overthrow the double-engine government, one engine of which is engaged in corruption and the other in crime." Tejashwi assured that if his government is formed, no one will need to leave Bihar. He stated, "We will bring a government focused on education, medicine, irrigation, and action. We have united to lead Bihar on the path of development."
Targeting the NDA
Tejashwi Yadav raised sharp questions against the NDA. He stated that the lack of an announced CM face indicates that it is unclear whether the BJP will allow Nitish Kumar to continue as Chief Minister. He said, "The public has not been given any clarity regarding the selection of the CM in the NDA. Why, after all, was Nitish Kumar's name not declared as the Chief Ministerial face this time?"
Tejashwi Yadav stated that despite ruling for 20 years, Bihar remains the poorest state with the highest rate of migration. He mentioned that there are no industries, IT hubs, or IT parks in the state. He added, "There is no system for education, medicine, livelihood, or irrigation. Scams are continuously occurring. Paper leaks, the Srijan scam, the Balika Grih scandal—no action has been taken on these. Bridges are collapsing, liquor is being consumed in police stations, and people are not getting justice."
Called the NDA a 'Copycat Government'
Tejashwi Yadav branded the NDA government a 'copycat government.' He gave examples, saying,
- "We planned to provide 200 units of free electricity, but the NDA only gave 125 units."
- "We spoke of a Youth Commission; now they are adopting the same scheme."
- "We promised five lakh government jobs; the NDA is now reiterating the same."
- "The BJP is claiming credit for our 'Mai Bahin Yojana' (Mother-Sister scheme) of providing Rs 10,000."
Tejashwi stated that the NDA has no vision and is merely running the government to remain in power. Tejashwi Yadav assured the public that if the Mahagathbandhan forms the government, true development and a fair justice system will be implemented in the state. He added that his government would work to improve education, health, irrigation, and law and order in the state.
