New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi may soon visit the Northeastern Indian state of Manipur. For a long time, Manipur has been experiencing a situation of violence and tension between two communities, regarding which the opposition had been consistently demanding the Prime Minister to visit the state. Now, the news is that PM Modi will visit Manipur in the near future.

Along with this, his visit to Mizoram is also being planned. According to sources, the tentative date for this visit has been revealed, and an official announcement may be made soon.

Historic Step for Railway Connectivity in Mizoram

Prime Minister Modi will reach Mizoram on September 12 and will inaugurate Sairang railway station on September 13. This 51.38-kilometer-long Bhairabi-Sairang railway line is the first project connecting Mizoram to the rail network. This project includes 48 tunnels, 55 major bridges, and 87 small bridges. It has been constructed at a cost of ₹8,215 crore.

This will be a significant step towards connecting Mizoram's capital Aizawl by rail. It is expected to boost trade, tourism, and employment opportunities. Violence has been ongoing in Manipur since May 2023 between the Meitei and Kuki communities, in which over 260 people have been killed and thousands have been displaced. Security forces have been deployed in the state, and President's Rule is in effect. The Prime Minister's upcoming visit is expected to improve the situation in the state.
