PM Modi to Visit Manipur Amidst Opposition Criticism Over Delayed Trip

Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Manipur on September 13. The opposition has raised questions about his not visiting during the period of violence. The visit will focus on railway project inauguration and ethnic peace alongside security arrangements.

PM Modi Manipur Visit: Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut has made a sharp statement regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Manipur. Raut stated that the Prime Minister did not have the courage to go there when violence was at its peak in Manipur. He questioned why the Prime Minister is visiting now, as it is time for him to leave the prime ministerial post. His argument is that it is not appropriate to present such a visit as a major achievement.

Sanjay Raut said, "What's the big deal about going to Manipur? He is the Prime Minister, going after two-three years. When Manipur was burning, when violence was erupting, he didn't dare to go there. Now that it's time for Modi ji to leave the prime ministerial post, he is going there for tourism."

Manipur Violence and Opposition's Target

This will be PM Modi's first visit to Manipur since ethnic violence erupted in May 2023. More than 260 people were killed and thousands were displaced in the conflict between the Meitei and Kuki communities in the state. This violence made headlines across the country and the opposition also raised questions about it in Parliament.

The opposition accused the Prime Minister of not intervening in time and delaying his visit to Manipur during the period of violence. Opposition parties termed this as negligence on the part of the government and questioned the security situation.

PM Modi's Visit

According to official sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Manipur on September 13, 2025, after his visit to Mizoram. His main program there will be the inauguration of a railway project. However, this visit has not yet been officially confirmed by New Delhi and Imphal.

The BJP's Manipur unit has also not confirmed this trip. Despite this, based on media reports and information from officials, it is believed that this visit will focus on the agenda of security and development in Manipur.

Churachandpur Declared 'Drone No-Fly Zone'

In view of the Prime Minister's visit, Churachandpur district in Manipur has been declared a 'drone no-fly zone'. As per the order of District Magistrate Dharun Kumar S, this step has been taken to ensure security during the VVIP visit. Churachandpur district holds special significance as it is a bhold of the Kuki community and is located near the border area of Mizoram. Additional security preparations are being made in this district to avoid any untoward incident during the visit.
