Prayagraj: Preparations have begun for the Magh Mela scheduled to be held in Prayagraj in 2026. In this regard, saints have demanded from the administration that only Hindu contractors be assigned work in the Mela area. They state that non-Sanatani contractors are not capable of maintaining religious traditions and sanctity. The saints also believe that contractors from other religions could weaken the religious spirit of the Mela.
Swami Brahmashram said that Magh Mela is a sacred event where followers of Sanatan Dharma come with a devout spirit. Citing the example of Mecca, he stated that even there, only Muslim contractors are entrusted with construction work at religious sites. Similarly, in Magh Mela, only Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, and Jain contractors should be given work.
The saints have appealed to the administration to be vigilant in this matter, otherwise, they reserve the right to protest.
