Pro Kabaddi League 2025: New Format, Golden Raids, and Playoff Changes Announced

Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) has announced major changes for its 12th season. This time, the league format will be more exciting and competitive than ever before. PKL 2025 will include the 'Golden Raid' format in all league stage matches, which was previously limited to playoff matches.

Sports News: The PKL 2025 season will begin on August 29th and will be held in Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, Chennai, and Delhi. This time, there will be a total of 108 matches in the league stage, with each team playing 18 matches. This new system will not only increase the competition in the league but will also give fans the opportunity to witness high-level sportsmanship in every match.

No Points for Losing

In the 12th season of PKL, the point system has also been simplified and clarified. Now, teams will get 2 points for winning and no points for losing. This will make the league table more intuitive and transparent, making it easier to understand the teams' rankings. This new point system will motivate teams to put in their full strength in every match.

'Tie-breaker Rule' and Golden Raid to Increase Excitement

This season will see the introduction of the 'Tie-breaker Rule'. Under this, if a match ends in a tie, the Golden Raid format will be applied. In the Golden Raid, the first team to score a point in the raid will win the match. The implementation of this rule will increase the drama and excitement of the match, and fans will have to wait until the very end for the result.

Top-8 Teams of League Stage will get a Chance to Playoff

The playoff structure has also been changed in PKL 2025. For the first time, the top eight teams of the league stage will get a chance to qualify for the playoffs. This means that more teams will be able to compete for the trophy, which will further increase the competition in the league. The top two teams of the league stage have been given a special advantage. These two teams will face each other in Qualifier 1, with the winner directly entering the final.

The losing team will get another chance to reach the final through Qualifier 2. This new playoff format will have a total of three eliminators and two qualifiers, making the journey to the final match even more exciting.
