Rahul Gandhi Accuses Election Commission of Voter List Irregularities in Bihar

Rahul Gandhi has accused the Election Commission of widespread irregularities in the Bihar voter list, stating that it is the Commission's duty to implement 'one person, one vote' and that the opposition will defend the Constitution.

Vote Constitution: Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and former President of the Congress party, has directly attacked the Election Commission regarding the voter list revision in Bihar. He stated that the Constitution clearly stipulates 'one person, one vote,' and it is the Election Commission's duty to implement this correctly. However, under the current circumstances, this principle is being compromised. Rahul Gandhi asserts that this is not just about one seat, but rather a systematic manipulation occurring across the country.

'We are defending the Constitution'

Speaking to reporters outside the Parliament building, Rahul Gandhi said that the Election Commission is aware, and we are also aware, of how this work is being carried out. Previously, we did not have solid evidence, but now we possess concrete proof. He reiterated that the opposition's only goal is to defend the Constitution and that they will not back down from this fight.

The Case of the 124-Year-Old Woman

During the voter list revision in Daraunda, Bihar, the Election Commission recorded the age of a woman named Minta Devi as 124 years old. Rahul Gandhi cited this as just one example, stating that countless such cases are coming to light. This illustrates the seriousness of the errors in the voter list, which the Election Commission is responsible for correcting.

Priyanka Gandhi's Support

Supporting Rahul Gandhi's allegations, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also issued a statement. She said that in the press conference, Rahul Gandhi explained in detail how fake voters have been created. Names, addresses, and relatives' names – all have been tampered with. Priyanka Gandhi says this is a direct attack on the transparency of the electoral process.

March to the Election Commission Office

A day before this controversy, Rahul Gandhi led a march of opposition MPs to the Election Commission office. Their aim was to submit a memorandum to the Election Commission on the issue of irregularities in the voter list. However, during this march, police detained Rahul Gandhi and several other MPs. The opposition claims that this is an attempt to suppress democratic rights.

Allegation of National-Level Irregularities

Rahul Gandhi stated that this problem is not limited to Bihar alone but is being carried out at the national level. Cases of irregularities in the voter list are emerging in different states. He alleged that this is being done in a planned manner to influence election results.

The Importance of One Person-One Vote

The principle of 'one person, one vote' in the Constitution is the foundation of Indian democracy. Rahul Gandhi says that if this principle is not followed, public trust in the electoral process will weaken. He appealed to the Election Commission to fulfill its responsibility by completely correcting the voter list and immediately rectifying any discrepancies.
