He highlighted the necessity of a collective discussion on the events following the recent ceasefire. Gandhi stated that this is a time for all political parties to unite, discuss the challenges facing the nation, and share a collective perspective on the country's situation.
Demand for a Parliamentary Discussion Following the Ceasefire
In his letter, Rahul Gandhi requested Prime Minister Modi to immediately convene a special session of Parliament. Gandhi wrote, "I reiterate the Opposition's unanimous request for an immediate special session of Parliament." He also stated that discussions are needed on recent events, including the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Operation Sindur, and the recently announced ceasefire.
Rahul Gandhi clarified in his letter that this session would not only provide an opportunity to discuss the events but also demonstrate a collective commitment to facing future challenges. He stated, "This is the time for us to unite, display a collective approach, and seriously consider the issues of our nation's defense and security."
Ceasefire Announced Amidst Tensions with Pakistan
A ceasefire was announced on the evening of May 10th amidst ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. However, drone attacks from the Pakistani side continued along the border. Even after the ceasefire, several areas experienced aerial attacks from Pakistan, further escalating tensions between the two nations.

Following the ceasefire, opposition leaders consistently demanded a special session of Parliament. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh also wrote to PM Modi, appealing for a discussion on this issue.
