Sardarshahar: A case of murder by stabbing of a 25-year-old married woman, Poonam, has come to light in the Sardarshahar area of Churu district, Rajasthan, on September 7. Initial investigations revealed that the murderer was not a stranger but the victim's own brother-in-law, Hitesh. According to the police, the brother-in-law attempted to sexually assault his sister-in-law, and when she resisted, he attacked and killed Poonam with a knife. Brother-in-law Arrested After Providing False Information to Police
Station House Officer of Sardarshahar, Madanlal Bishnoi, stated that upon reaching the scene, the deceased's brother-in-law, Hitesh, provided a false account to the police. He claimed that an unknown assailant attacked with the intent to rob and subsequently murdered his sister-in-law, Poonam. The police found several inconsistencies in the brother-in-law's narrative, which deepened their suspicion.
Considering the gravity of the matter, the police intensified the investigation. Based on initial questioning and evidence, it was revealed that the brother-in-law had fabricated this story to conceal his lie. As the truth of the case surfaced, the police arrested the accused and sent him to judicial custody.
Family Files a Report
The victim's uncle filed a report at the Sardarshahar police station. According to the report, Poonam was married to Kapil, a resident of Sardarshahar, in 2021. At the time of the incident, her husband Kapil was working as a laborer in Hyderabad. Police investigation found that the accused, Hitesh, attempted to sexually assault his sister-in-law and, upon her resistance, attacked and killed her with a knife.
The family states that Poonam was always happy with her family members and her brother-in-law. This horrific incident has plunged the entire family into shock. Local residents are also stunned by this murder and are demanding justice.
Who Was Home at the Time of the Incident?
Station House Officer Bishnoi informed that Poonam's in-laws had gone to the temple at the time of the murder. Upon their return, they found their daughter-in-law in a bloody state. The police inspected the crime scene and collected evidence. Initial investigations clearly indicated that the accused had harassed his sister-in-law multiple times before the murder.
The police are now trying to determine if anyone else was involved in the incident besides the accused Hitesh. They are also investigating how long Hitesh had been harassing Poonam and whether there was any involvement of others behind it.
Accused Sent to Judicial Custody
The police presented the accused in court and sent him to judicial custody. The Station House Officer stated that given the seriousness of the case, the police are investigating every aspect. The accused is being interrogated rigorously to bring further facts to light.
