Jaipur: A sensational piece of news has emerged from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, where the state's Chief Minister, Bhajanlal Sharma, and a senior IAS officer have received death threats. The threat, delivered via email, contained the message "Bhajanlal will be eliminated" for the Chief Minister, and for the IAS officer, "Will be chopped up and packed in a suitcase." This threat has raised serious questions about the state's security, and police and security agencies are investigating the matter seriously.
Email Threat, Violent Language
On Wednesday morning, as officials arrived at the Jaipur Secretariat, an email in the CM's office sent shockwaves. The email contained extremely abusive language threatening CM Bhajanlal Sharma. Furthermore, a senior IAS officer (whose name is being withheld) also received a death threat. Sources indicate that the email's language was not only violent but also clearly indicated an intent beyond mere intimidation, suggesting it might be part of a larger conspiracy. The email also stated, “No one will be spared this time. The end is near for those at the top of the system.”
ATS and Cyber Cell in Action
Upon receiving information about the threat, the Rajasthan Police's special team, ATS, and Cyber Cell immediately sprang into action. Efforts to trace the sender's identity and location have been intensified. Rajasthan's DGP, Umesh Mishra, told the media, "We are not treating this as a mere threat, but as a serious criminal conspiracy. All security agencies are working in this direction."
Chief Minister's Office Statement
A statement released by the Chief Minister's Office said, "Any attempt to intimidate or threaten the Chief Minister is an attack on the democratic system. The Chief Minister is completely safe, and his security has been upgraded to the highest level." Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma also responded to the incident. He stated, "We are not afraid of any threats. Serving the people is our duty, and we will continue to do so. Whoever did this, the law will not spare them."
Tightened Security, Additional Forces Deployed at Secretariat
Following the incident, security has been further tightened around the Secretariat complex and the Chief Minister's residence. Assistance has been sought from units like the NSG and SPG for the CM's security. Entry of ordinary citizens into the Secretariat has been temporarily restricted, and only personnel with special identification cards are being allowed entry.
The Motive Behind the Conspiracy?
Sources say the email was sent from a fake or bounced account, potentially accessible from abroad. However, some cyber experts believe the email could have been sent by a politically disgruntled individual or a radical organization. The investigation is now focusing on whether this was a lone mentally unstable individual or part of an organized network.
Meanwhile, the Congress and other opposition parties questioned the government, asking how ordinary citizens can be safe if the security of the Chief Minister and senior officials is compromised. In response, a BJP spokesperson stated, "Instead of playing politics at this time, the opposition should stand with the unity of the state."
