On Wednesday morning, his parents brought him to the Parsa police station hoping that the police's strictness would deter him. The police seated him in an empty room so that his parents could speak to the officers. A short time later, Sonu used a rope from a doormat in the room to create a noose and hang himself from the window grill.

According to police sources, Sonu was not arrested for any crime, so he was not kept in custody. He was brought to the station at his parents' behest.
