Panic erupted in the Surajgarh town of Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district on Tuesday evening when some unidentified miscreants surrounded a Sarpanch's (village head) vehicle in broad daylight and launched a brutal attack with sticks, batons, and iron rods. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed there, and the video's viral spread has created an atmosphere of fear in the area. The driver of the vehicle sustained serious injuries in the attack, while the Sarpanch and his associate narrowly escaped.
How the Attack Was Executed
According to eyewitnesses, approximately a dozen miscreants arrived near Barasia College in Surajgarh in three camper vans. They first surrounded the shift vehicle of Sarpanch Sandeep Daila of Kakoda village from the front and the rear. Then, as they disembarked from the third vehicle, the miscreants launched an attack with sticks, batons, and iron rods. The vehicle's windows were smashed, and the driver was severely beaten. However, Sarpanch Sandeep Daila and Devi Singh Ola, who was with him, saved themselves by staying inside the vehicle.
Upon receiving the information about the incident, Surajgarh police station officer Hemraj Meena, along with a police force, reached the spot and inspected the crime scene. He impounded the vehicle and also called the FSL team (Forensic Science Laboratory) to the scene.
Clues from CCTV Footage
After the attack, the police began scrutinizing the CCTV camera footage installed in the area. The investigation revealed that five attackers were clearly visible near the vehicle with sticks and iron rods. The police have taken possession of the footage and have started identifying the accused.
Sources say that based on the footage, some suspects have been identified, and the police are conducting raids at potential hideouts to arrest them. Furthermore, two camper vans, which were used in the attack, have also been identified. However, there has been no official confirmation from the police yet.
Sarpanch Says - It Was a Conspiracy to Kill
Following the attack, Sarpanch Sandeep Daila, while speaking to the media, called it a planned attempt to murder. He said, "This attack was not just to intimidate, but it was a conspiracy to kill me. If the driver had not shown presence of mind, or if we hadn't gotten out of the vehicle in time, lives could have been lost." He has demanded the early arrest of the accused from the administration and has stated that he will lodge a complaint with the higher authorities regarding the matter.
Daylight Attack Near College
The attack took place near Barasia College, one of the busiest areas in Surajgarh, where a large crowd of students, passersby, and shopkeepers is usually present in the evening. People were stunned by the attack that happened in the presence of so many people. There is an atmosphere of fear among the general public, and this incident has raised questions about the law and order situation in the district.
Political Rivalry Under Investigation
According to sources, this attack is not just the result of personal animosity but may also involve the politics of the village. It is being said that during the last panchayat elections, Sarpanch Sandeep Daila had a heated exchange with some of his opponents, and this attack is believed to be the result of that political tussle. The police are investigating the matter from this angle as well.
Security Measures Intensified
After the incident, police patrolling has been increased throughout the Surajgarh area. Additional police force has been deployed in sensitive areas, and raids are being conducted continuously to search for suspects. The police claim that all the attackers will be arrested soon.
