Delhi's 'Rashtra Neeti' Program: Empowering Students with Democracy and Governance Skills

The Delhi Government is launching the 'Rashtra Neeti' program from August 15th. Its aim is to provide school children with a practical understanding of democracy, governance, and civic responsibilities. Students will learn the democratic process by electing student committees.

Delhi Education Update: On the occasion of Independence Day 2025, the Delhi government is launching a new educational initiative called 'Rashtra Neeti'. This program will be implemented in all government schools in Delhi. Its objective is to provide students with practical knowledge of ethical governance, democracy, and civic responsibilities.

What is the 'Rashtra Neeti' program?

'Rashtra Neeti' is an educational and civic development program that will provide students with practical information about the basic concepts of democracy, governance, and policymaking. Its aim is to develop an understanding of a responsible and aware citizen in children.

Program Launch and Objectives

The Delhi government will launch this program on August 15, 2025. According to the Department of Education, under the Rashtra Neeti program, students will get a chance to participate in various responsibilities and decision-making processes at the school level.

Its main objectives are:

  • Explaining the concept of ethical governance
  • Connecting with democratic processes
  • Explaining the importance of civic participation
  • Providing practical training in policymaking and the role of governance

7 Committees to be Formed in Schools

The Department of Education has directed that at least 7 committees be formed in each school. These committees will cover various responsibilities and subjects:

  • Environment Committee – Working on environmental protection and spreading awareness
  • Anti-Bullying Committee – Ensuring a positive atmosphere and safe environment in the school
  • Canteen Committee – Monitoring food quality and nutrition
  • Health and Hygiene Committee
  • Communication Committee – A medium of communication between students and school management
  • Cultural Committee – Organizing cultural programs
  • Education and Library Committee – Working on academic quality and resources

Elections to be Held for Leadership

A special feature of this program is that the committees will be led by the students themselves. An election process will be organized for them. Teachers will only play the role of guides. In this way, students will experience the decision-making process themselves and learn to take responsibility.

Practical Education of Democracy

Through 'Rashtra Neeti', students will be explained that democracy is not just an election process, but a system of governance based on participation, accountability, and ethics. They will learn what their contribution can be as a citizen and what responsibilities they should fulfill.

Emphasis on the Overall Development of Students

This program will develop leadership skills, teamwork, communication skills, and an understanding of policymaking in students. At the same time, they will get an opportunity to learn about government functioning, the decision-making process, and practical solutions to social problems.
