Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Retorts to Jaya Bachchan's Remark on Operation Sindoor in Rajya Sabha, Calling Out Opposition with a Film Dialogue, Linking Them to Anti-National Forces.
Rekha Gupta vs Jaya Bachchan: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has sharply criticized Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan in the Delhi Assembly regarding Operation Sindoor. She not only praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi but also linked opposition parties to an anti-national mindset.
What did Rekha Gupta say?
Rekha Gupta responded to Jaya Bachchan's statement during her speech in the Assembly. She mentioned that Jaya Bachchan had questioned in Parliament why the operation was named 'Sindoor'. Retorting to this, Rekha Gupta replied in a cinematic style – "Ek chutki sindoor ki keemat tum kya jano..." ("What do you know about the value of a pinch of sindoor..."). This dialogue, taken from Jaya Bachchan's own film 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham', has now become a political statement.
Jaya Bachchan's Objection
In Rajya Sabha, Jaya Bachchan recently raised objections during a discussion on 'Operation Sindoor', launched in response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. She questioned the government as to why the operation was named 'Sindoor', especially when the attack had widowed women (erased their sindoor). She termed it insensitive and questioned why the government was using such symbols.
What is Operation Sindoor?
'Operation Sindoor' was a military operation conducted by India in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. In this operation, security forces took decisive action against the terrorists, delivering a b response to the Pakistan-backed terrorist network. According to the government, this operation is also a symbol of protecting the women of the country and their dignity.
Rekha Gupta Praises PM Modi
Rekha Gupta praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's role in the operation, stating that he played a decisive role in "protecting the dignity of our sisters." She also said that the name Operation Sindoor is a symbol of respecting women and protecting the country's honor.
Targeting the Opposition
In the Assembly, Rekha Gupta accused the opposition parties of sympathizing with anti-national forces. She said that the opposition parties do not trust their army and Prime Minister, but they trust other countries. Targeting the INDIA alliance, she said that even though the name is 'INDIA', their statements seem like support for Pakistan.
Attacking Congress with Examples of 1947 and 1962
Rekha Gupta also launched a scathing attack on the Congress party in her address. She said that when the country was partitioned in 1947, Congress was in power. Credit was taken for independence, but responsibility was not taken for the partition. Similarly, Congress also evaded responsibility for the losses suffered by the country in the 1962 Sino-Indian War.
