New Delhi: The Renault Kiger facelift version will be launched on August 24th. It is one of India's most affordable compact SUVs, first introduced in February 2021. The new Kiger features several changes in the front grille, taillamps, and interior. Two petrol engines and a CNG option as a retrofit will be available. It is expected to be priced between ₹6.15 lakh and ₹11.23 lakh. It will compete with cars like the Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Brezza.
New Look and Design of Renault Kiger
The biggest change in the new Renault Kiger will be its design. The company has completely updated the front and rear sections this time. The front grille features the new Renault logo, giving the car a new and premium look. The headlights will come in a split design, taken from the previous model, but the taillamps have been given a C-shaped design, making it quite stylish. The shark fin antenna and sporty rear bumper will also be among the highlights of the new Kiger.
There won't be many changes in the side profile, but dual-tone diamond-cut alloy wheels, a tapering roofline, thick body cladding, roof rails, and squared wheel arches will maintain the robustness and style of this SUV. The company has also introduced a new green color option in it, which will surely attract young buyers.
Engine and Technical Features
Renault has not made any major changes in terms of the engine in this facelift model. It will continue to have two petrol engine options as before. The first is a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated engine that produces 72 PS of power and 96 NM of torque. The second is a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine that provides 100 PS of power and 160 NM of torque. Gearbox options will also include a 5-speed manual and CVT automatic.
The most special thing is that the CNG option will also be available in this model, but it will be available as a retrofit through the dealership. This will allow customers to choose the CNG option along with petrol, which will be a good source of fuel savings for them.
Interior and Technology
In terms of interior, some updates will also be seen in the new Kiger. It is expected to get a new free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, which comes with smart connectivity. In addition, the new cabin theme and seat upholstery will also be updated. Many features of the existing model, such as a 7-inch TFT instrument cluster, wireless charger, automatic AC, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, steering-mounted controls, air filter, ambient lighting, will also remain in the new Kiger.
Price and Competition
The prices of the new Renault Kiger are expected to be around the existing model, which may range from ₹6.15 lakh to ₹11.23 lakh ex-showroom. Within this price range, this SUV will directly compete with popular cars like the Punch, Brezza, Nexon, and Mahindra XUV 3OO.
- Maruti Brezza: Brezza dominates the compact SUV segment due to its reliability and service network.
- Tata Punch: Popular among the youth due to its b build quality, better safety, and new technology.
- Nissan Magnite: A b competitor to the Kiger in terms of features and style.
- Mahindra XUV 3OO: In a slightly premium segment, but a b competitor with its sporty and powerful performance.
Amidst increasing competition in the market, Renault's effort is to provide customers with a stylish and reliable SUV at an affordable price, which is suitable for city traffic and roads.
