RJD MLA Accused of Threatening Dalit Official; Tej Pratap Demands Action

RJD MLA Bhai Virendra Accused of Threatening Dalit Panchayat Secretary; Tej Pratap Yadav Demands Strict Action After Audio Goes Viral.

Bihar Politics: RJD MLA Bhai Virendra faces serious allegations of threatening a Dalit Panchayat Secretary and using casteist slurs. The issue has escalated after an audio recording went viral. Now, senior party leader and former minister Tej Pratap Yadav has openly questioned the RJD leadership and demanded strict action against Bhai Virendra. Secretary Sandeep Kumar has filed an FIR at the SC-ST police station in Patna.

Tej Pratap's Open Protest

Former Minister and RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav has, for the first time, openly challenged his own party. Accusing RJD MLA Bhai Virendra of Maner, he stated that Bhai Virendra not only insulted a Dalit Panchayat Secretary but also threatened him. Tej Pratap questioned why, if he were to make a mistake, there would be talk of expelling him from the party, but silence prevails in the case of Bhai Virendra.

Tej Pratap Yadav stated, "I was branded a traitor and ousted from the party by family and party members. But why has no action been taken against leaders like Bhai Virendra, who openly threaten a Dalit employee?" Tej Pratap's comment clearly indicates a discriminatory attitude within the party.

What is the Entire Matter?

The entire controversy began on July 26 when Sandeep Kumar, secretary of Balua Panchayat in Maner, received a threatening call. The caller identified himself as "Bhai Virendra." When the secretary denied recognition, the alleged MLA became enraged and said, "I will beat you with shoes. Don't you recognize me? Anything can happen."

The recording of this threatening conversation went viral. When the audio surfaced on social media, the controversy intensified further. Taking the matter seriously, Sandeep Kumar filed an FIR at the SC-ST police station in Patna. The FIR includes charges of using casteist language and issuing threats.

Notice to Panchayat Secretary, Then FIR

According to media reports, after this audio came to light, the BDO (Block Development Officer) of Maner issued a show-cause notice to Secretary Sandeep Kumar. Following this, Sandeep took legal action and filed an FIR against RJD MLA Bhai Virendra. He explicitly accused the MLA of misbehaving with him and using casteist slurs.

Growing Internal Strife in RJD

Tej Pratap Yadav's statement has made it clear that all is not well within the RJD. The questions he has raised are not just about the behavior of one MLA, but also question the party's functioning. Tej Pratap said that if the party truly advocates for social justice, it should take immediate and strict action in such cases.

Case Registered Under SC-ST Act

The FIR registered at the SC-ST police station has significant legal importance. Under the SC-ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, threatening, insulting, or using casteist words against a Dalit or tribal person is a cognizable offense. The act provides for both punishment and fines upon conviction.
