The Samajwadi Party has targeted the central and state governments over an alleged donation theft case linked to the Ram Temple, demanding that the matter be investigated not only at the local level but also by central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Party National Secretary Avlesh said an independent committee comprising former judges and saints should also be constituted to ensure an impartial examination of the entire matter.
Avlesh said the Ram Temple is a centre of faith for millions of devotees and that donations and offerings made at the temple are closely linked to public trust. He said that if there are allegations or suspicions of irregularities or theft involving donations or offerings, a transparent and credible investigation is essential.
He said that to maintain public confidence, the probe should be conducted by agencies whose impartiality cannot be questioned.
The Samajwadi Party leader alleged that transparency is of utmost importance in matters related to religious institutions. He said that if any individual is found guilty during the investigation, strict action should be taken regardless of that person's influence or position.
He also demanded that the investigation report be made public so that devotees are not left with any doubts regarding the matter.
The issue has intensified political debate in Uttar Pradesh, with opposition parties continuing to raise questions. The ruling side has stated that the concerned agencies and the administration are performing their duties and that action will be taken if any irregularities are found.
