Union Minister Scindia writes to Chief Minister, urging the removal of dilapidated rocks and the creation of a safe passage for devotees on the Kedarnath Temple route in Bamori, Guna.
MP News: Union Minister and Guna MP Jyotiraditya Scindia has written to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, requesting the removal of dilapidated and dangerous rocks on the route leading to the ancient Kedarnath Temple in Bamori, Guna district. In his letter, Scindia stated that this route has been closed to the public for a long time and the unsafe condition of the massive rocks poses a serious risk of accidents.
Threat to the safety of devotees and temple structure
In his letter, Scindia said that the dilapidated condition of the rocks not only poses a threat to the devotees but also creates a serious risk to the temple's structure. The closure of the route to this ancient Shiva temple in Guna district is also affecting local faith and religious activities.
Difficulties for devotees due to road closure
The pedestrian route to this prominent temple in Guna district has been closed for the past one and a half years. Due to this, not only local people but also devotees coming from surrounding districts are being deprived of visiting the temple. Scindia said that opening the route will ensure the safety of the devotees and enable easy access to the temple.
GSI declared the area highly sensitive
Scindia also mentioned in the letter that in a survey conducted earlier by the Guna administration and the Geological Survey of India (GSI), this area has been declared as 'highly sensitive (Category IV)'. The GSI report recommended the immediate closure of the route and the installation of a rock catcher to prevent rockfall incidents.
Request for assistance from SDRF
Scindia said that this task is not possible at the level of the district administration. In this context, the District Magistrate had sent a letter to the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on July 11, 2025, for technical and resource assistance. The Union Minister has requested the Chief Minister to complete this work as soon as possible.
Priority to local faith and devotees
Scindia also emphasized in the letter that a smooth and safe route should be prepared to reach the temple by safely removing the rocks. This will not only ensure the safety of the devotees but also respect the local religious faith and public sentiment.
Role of local administration
Scindia urged the Chief Minister that the administration should quickly inspect the condition of the route and provide the necessary technical and resources to remove the rocks. He says that the risk of accidents will continue to persist if appropriate measures are not taken for the safety of the route.
