Indian equity markets traded higher on Friday, April 10, with benchmark indices BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 opening in positive territory, reflecting renewed investor participation.
The 30-share BSE Sensex opened higher by 489.36 points, or 0.64 percent, at 77,121.01. The NSE Nifty 50 also began the session on a positive note, rising 105.45 points, or 0.44 percent, to open at 23,880.55.
In early trade, momentum strengthened further. Around 9:20 am, the Sensex was up approximately 572 points, crossing the 77,200 mark, while the Nifty 50 gained around 183 points to trade near the 23,950 level, indicating broad-based buying activity in the market.

According to analysts, the upward movement was supported by positive global cues, investor buying interest, and value buying following the previous session’s decline. Strength in banking and financial sector stocks also contributed to the gains.
Among Sensex constituents, Bajaj Finance, Power Grid Corporation of India, Axis Bank, State Bank of India, and Mahindra & Mahindra were among the top gainers.
On the other hand, select stocks in the IT and pharmaceutical sectors declined, with Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, and Tata Consultancy Services among the notable losers.
The gains followed a sharp decline in the previous session on Thursday, April 9, when the Sensex fell 931 points to close at 76,631, and the Nifty 50 declined 222 points to settle at 23,775. The earlier session had seen pressure in IT and banking stocks, contributing to broad-based weakness, although small-cap and mid-cap stocks showed some resilience.
