Sports News: Pakistani fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who was participating in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL 2025-26), has been replaced by another bowler in his team. Afridi was playing for the Brisbane Heat, but was ruled out for the entire season due to a knee injury sustained during a match.

Subsequently, Brisbane Heat has hired Pakistan’s Zaman Khan as a replacement. The Big Bash League management has also approved Zaman Khan’s inclusion in the team in place of Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Shaheen Shah Afridi’s Injury

Shaheen Shah Afridi was injured during the match against Adelaide Strikers at the Gabba on January 3rd. During the match, Afridi was fielding at mid-on when he felt pain due to a recurrence of an old knee injury while attempting to stop a shot. He had to leave the field immediately, and doctors declared him unfit to continue playing. Following the injury, Afridi returned to Pakistan and is focusing on a full recovery.

Zaman Khan – Shaheen Shah Afridi’s Replacement

Brisbane Heat has now included 24-year-old Pakistani fast bowler Zaman Khan in the team to replace Shaheen Shah Afridi. Zaman was included in the team after receiving approval from the BBL Technical Committee. Zaman Khan’s cricket career is as follows:

  • ODI: 1 match, no wickets
  • Right-arm fast bowler, resident of Mirpur, Pakistan
  • Best Bowling: 1 wicket for 4 runs

Zaman Khan has previously played in the BBL. He played 4 matches for Sydney Thunder in the 13th season of the BBL, taking 8 wickets at an average of 16.38. Zaman Khan is actively involved in Pakistan’s domestic cricket and plays for the Lahore Qalandars team in the PSL under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi.

This experience has led to his inclusion in the team as a replacement in the BBL. Zaman has also been a part of Manchester Originals in England’s The Hundred League.
